Medicinal Mushrooms

Today is my first day of my last class! I am so excited/nervous/anxious. It is definitely bittersweet. I am going to miss this feeling when next semester comes around and I don’t have to worry about going to class. I always loved school. You meet so many different people and learn from everyone’s unique personalities and experiences. Everyone has a story to tell and has been through so much in their short time here. Graduate school is definitely a unique experience since there are so many people of diverse ages from different places in the world.

School is a crazy time. Everything seems rushed since you have little time to take care of yourself and your daily tasks. Since I am very busy with work, school, and working out, I have been trying to stay away from ordinary coffee. I hate the jitters and the bitter taste. It is also hard to make a pot of coffee at 5 am while I am rushing out the door. I have been mostly drinking Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee.

Four Sigmatic takes various mushrooms, like Reishi, Chaga, Cordyceps and Lions Mane and makes them into a delicious, healthy drink. They make Mushroom Coffee, Mushroom Superfood Blends, and Mushroom Elixirs. Many people throughout the world, especially in the countryside of China and Finland, incorporate these types of mushrooms into their diets.

You may be confused with the thought of adding mushrooms to coffee; however, medicinal mushrooms are much different than the culinary kind. The medicinal kinds of mushrooms are not grown on the grown, they are grown on or near trees. They sometimes look like tree bark. Unlike culinary mushrooms, they are not eaten raw. They go through a process called water extraction or alcohol extraction.

Each type of medicinal mushroom has different health benefits, ranging from stimulating nerve growth to treating an upset stomach. They contain polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are compounds that have been linked to protection against cancer cells, helping the immune system and many other benefits.

Mushrooms are said to be the original superfood.

The Mushroom Coffee is made from organic Arabica Coffee, Chaga mushroom, lion’s mane mushroom and organic Rhodiola Root. The Organic Arabica Coffee is grown in the highlands of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas in Mexico. It is grown in prosperous volcanic soil, giving it a rich, smooth taste. The Chaga Mushrooms give the coffee an extra energizing boost, along with antioxidant properties. Lion’s Mane Mushrooms have been used for centuries to enhance cognitive properties, while the Organic Rhodiola Root is used for concentration and memory.

The coffee helps me stay focused throughout the day. It has a smooth, rich taste that is different from ordinary coffee. It can be added to water, as well as milk and smoothies! It doesn’t leave you jittery or craving more. It has ZERO calories!

Enjoyed your post! There is a cool company called FRESHCAP mushrooms and they came out with a compound called Thrive 6. Might want to check them out as the a bit smaller firm out of Canada. Thanks for posting!
