Tomatillos, the mexican green tomato, tomate de cascara… It resembles a tomato in both looks and name, however it taste much different. It has a tart, fruity taste. Tomatillos have a sticky texture after removing the papery outer covering.

This green mexican fruit is low in calories and high in fiber. Fiber will keep you full and satisfied. It contains around 11 calories per fruit and 91 milligrams of potassium! It contains a great amount of Vitamin C. This vitamin is important for the production of collagen, which can help your hair to grow strong and your skin to keep its elasticity.

So what can we make…

Salsa Verde 

8 tomatillos
1/2 sweet onion
1/2 garlic clove
Cilantro to taste
Lime to taste
Salt to taste
Jalapeno to taste

Put all ingredients in a food processor/blender and blend to the texture of your choice. It is great as a dip!
